5 Methods to Find Shopify Stores in 2023

Finding Shopify stores, especially in a specified niche, can be difficult. That’s why we wrote this blog article in which we show you five ways how to find Shopify stores.

Each method also includes a list of pros and cons that allows you to evaluate each one and find the perfect one for your needs.

1. Builtwith.com

The first method is one of the simplest ones to use. It has some great benefits:

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Filter by country
  • Extra details

Cons:

  • Lots of competition at these stores
  • Account needed for exporting

How this method works:

  1. Visit builtwith.com
  2. Enter “Shopify” into the search bar and click on the Shopify icon
  3. Now scroll down a bit, and on the right side, you’ll find a list of countries. Click on any of them, and you’ll get a list of Shopify stores for that specific country.
  4. Now you can scroll through the pages or export all of them with the button at the top right.

2. Myip.ms

This is the easiest method on this list because you can simply click a link and export all of them to Excel directly. Here are the method’s characteristics:

Pros:

  • Easiest method on this list
  • Huge database

Cons:

  • Not filterable for country
  • Lots of other people using this method

How this method works:

  1. Visit myip.ms with this link. It already has all filters applied.
  2. On the top left is a small button where you can export the database.
  3. You can also just scroll through the different pages in this database.

3. Source Code Search Engine

This method won’t be that crowded because initially, you’d need to find a code snippet, which is present on all Shopify sites but not on any other ones.

We’ve already done that work for you, and the snippet is this one:

<script id="shopify-features" type="application/json">{"accessToken":

Pros:

  • Not crowded like the other methods
  • Constant updates of new Shopify stores
  • Free export

Cons:

  • None

How this method works:

  1. Visit a source code search engine like publicwww.com
  2. Enter the following snippet into the search bar:
    <script id="shopify-features" type="application/json">{"accessToken":
  3. As always, you can scroll through or export all of the results like shown in the image

4. Google

This method allows you to find newer and inexperienced Shopify stores because you’ll only find stores with a .myshopify.com domain. This means that they didn’t buy their own domain yet.

Pros:

  • Unique findings
  • Filterable for niches/products and country
  • Ease of use

Cons:

  • No export functionality

How this method works:

You can use this method in two different ways:

1. Find random Shopify stores

Enter the following phrase into Google: site:*.myshopify.com

2. Find Shopify stores in a specified country

  1. Enter the following phrase into Google: site:*.myshopify.com
  2. Click the settings icon on the top right
  3. Now click “All search settings”
  4. At the bottom, you can choose a country and hit save
  5. Now you’ll see results for a specified country

3. Find Shopify stores for your niche

Tip: This method can be paired with the method for a specified country above this one

  1. Enter the following phrase into Google and replace [Filter] with the niche or product you’d like to filter for:
    site:*.myshopify.com [Filter]
    e.g.: site:*.myshopify.com dog accessories
